How the Program Works

    • First, we listen to our client companies to understand the roles they seek to fill, as well as target profiles of the candidates that are most successful in those roles.

    • We then use our relationships with athletic departments at universities across the country to find the candidate(s) that best fit.

    • We speak to the student-athlete's coaches and/or advisors to validate their work ethic, character, and attitude.

    • Using a basic contingency-style model, our corporate partners pay a nominal flat fee only if they hire the student-athlete.  Companies are not expected to make any upfront financial commitments.

Lee Rubin, Founder and President of Athletes@Work

Lee received his B.A. in Communications from Penn State University. He was a three-year starter and defensive captain for the Nittany Lion football team under the leadership of legendary coach, Joe Paterno. Lee led the team in tackles as a sophomore, and ended his career as the Defensive MVP of the 1994 Florida Citrus Bowl.

Following his tenure at Penn State, Lee began a successful career in corporate recruiting.  He has helped identify new talent for such Fortune 500 firms as Merrill Lynch, Dow Jones, Charles Schwab, and the Hess Corporation.  Lee's experience as a player, combined with his business background, provides a unique perspective for helping student-athletes transition successfully into professional careers.

Lee is also on the Board of Directors of the Community Refuge Education and Recreation Center, a program designed to aid underprivileged youth in the Central New Jersey area.

Our Value Proposition

The Athletes@Work Program provides companies with access to a talent pool that is loaded with candidates that possess strong academic backgrounds. These individuals also possess years of experience developing AND DEMONSTRATING the intangibles that are critical to professional success.

Due to their demanding schedules, student athletes are normally not a part of the traditional corporate recruiting activities (career fairs, on-campus interviews, etc.).  Also, to protect their student-athletes from dangerous external influences, athletic departments are pretty closed environments.  Leveraging our experience as former student-athletes, as well as our experience as corporate recruiters, we have been able to build strong relationships with athletic departments across the country.  They have granted us access to the student-athletes and are in full support of the program.

* We are fully compliant with NCAA regulations.
